BOARDING DAY!!!

We made it!!!
Tony and “Big Red” showed up exactly on time and took us to the port in record time. We shared the ride with a family from Indiana who are on a 10 day Carnival Cruise to the Caribbean.

One mix-up during the process, Tony thought we were leaving from Terminal 3 but the ship was docked at Terminal #2. It all worked out, including a quick U-Turn on the freeway.
There were signs saying that a New terminal was being built and should be ready soon; they do need it. I didn’t think there were enough information signs explaining where to go after dropping the luggage at the dock. We had to ask two people before we finally found our way to a back door of this huge warehouse building with checkin counters and seating.
All the rest worked out fine and finally at 12:45 we were allowed to board. The staterooms were ready and so we were allowed to go straight to our staterooms,  drop all of our hand luggage and go and check out the ship. Let the exploring begin.

The rest of the luggage showed up by 5pm. Due to a malfunction with the scanners for the supplies load we were delayed while the sniffing dogs checked everything out.
We went to discover much of the ship. It was nice that we had studied all the deck plans ahead of time.
Whatever you want with regard to a type of menu is available to us, up one flight of stairs and to the left. Soft ice cream in a waffle cone…. How about lemon pie with a crème-brule topping??

We waited up on the observation deck for departure. We watched as one after the other cruise ships left the port. Some VERY large cruise ships. Then we realized that we were one of those huge cruise ships. We were the last to leave Port Everglades.

We finally set sail around 7:30pm (should have been 6pm) and we were at dinner.
Back in the cabin we opened the deck door and lay and listened to the ship slice through the deep Caribbean waters heading toward the Bahamas!!
